Corporate Identity

The logo you register is the logo you keep for ten years.

In Mexico a trademark is normally filed as a marca mixta — the name and the design together. Whatever logo goes into that application is what ends up protected, so it pays to have the real one before you file rather than after. And once you are operating here, your brand also has to work for a Mexican printer, a Mexican supplier and a Spanish-language brochure.

The Masoko brand applied to letterhead, two business card designs, a mug, a bottle and screen mockups
Our own identity, applied. The logo, the letterhead and the business cards are what a package like Bora delivers; the mug, the bottle and the screens are what you do with it afterwards, and what a Mexican supplier can produce once you hand them the brand manual. We show ours rather than a client's because Masoko® is a mark we registered with IMPI ourselves.

Ujasiri takes 35 business days because it includes the full manual and the brochure. If you have a launch date you have already committed to, start it early.

Combining this with your trademark registration takes a further MX$2,500 off the total, whichever of the three you choose — see the combined prices.

How we work on your corporate identity package

The process is the same at all three levels. First we pin down what your company actually does and where the brand is going to live.

Then we present the logo proposals your package includes. Once you have chosen a direction, we apply the changes and move on to the stationery.

  • We work on real proposals, not templates: every logo is designed for your line of business.
  • Rounds of changes are inside the price, so they are never billed separately.
  • You get open and closed files, for print and for digital.
  • From Bora upwards we include a brand manual, so any supplier can apply it properly.
  • If you need a website later, we build it on this same identity.

A brand guide so your team can use AI without breaking the identity

Anyone in your company can now generate an image or a piece of copy with artificial intelligence. The problem is that it almost always comes out off-brand, and three months later there are five different versions of your own business in circulation.

So we prepare an annex with the descriptors, the visual vocabulary and the rules your team should follow when asking an AI tool for a piece. It is quoted separately and can be added to any of the three packages.

  • Style descriptors, ready to use
  • What to ask for and what to avoid in each type of piece
  • Editable templates for social media
  • A review of the first pieces your team produces

Questions about the packages

Should we register the trademark first, or design the logo first?

Design first, then file once. In Mexico a trademark is usually registered as a marca mixta, which means the name and the design are filed together, so the logo in the application is part of what gets protected for the next ten years. Filing with a provisional logo and redesigning afterwards tends to mean paying for the filing twice. Doing both here also takes MX$2,500 off the total — see how the registration works.

Can we buy just the logo, or just the stationery?

Yes. The logo on its own is MX$6,133, MX$8,253 or MX$10,076 depending on the level, and the stationery on its own is MX$2,535, MX$9,913 or MX$17,449. The package is always cheaper than the two apart — 10% at Alama and Bora, 15% at Ujasiri.

Why does Ujasiri take 35 business days?

Because it includes the full seven-section brand manual and the services brochure, and both are written and laid out, not assembled from a template. Alama takes 5 business days and Bora 8. If you have a launch date, a trade fair or a distributor meeting already committed, start Ujasiri early.

Are the rounds of changes charged separately?

No. Alama includes 2, Bora 3 and Ujasiri 5, and they are inside the price. This is worth checking against any other quote you are comparing, because revision rounds billed by the hour are where a fixed price usually stops being fixed.

What files do we actually receive?

Open and closed files, for print and for digital. All three levels include the logo in SVG, a favicon for your website, an email signature and social media avatars. Alama is delivered in .jpg, .png and .pdf; from Bora upwards you also get the logo as an editable .pdf, which is what a printer here will ask you for.

What is the brand manual for, if we already know what our brand looks like?

For everybody else. Once you are operating in Mexico, a printer, a packaging supplier, a signage workshop or a local agency will each apply your brand their own way unless somebody tells them which red, which typeface and how much clear space. The manual is what you send them instead of answering that by email every time. It is included from Bora upwards.

We already have a logo from head office. Do we need any of this?

Often what is missing is not the logo but everything around it here: stationery in Spanish, a manual your Mexican suppliers can follow, a brochure that reads as if it was written in this country. Send us what you already have and we will tell you which of the three levels is actually worth it for you, or whether none of them is.

Are the prices in pesos, and can we pay from abroad?

Yes, prices are in Mexican pesos and include IVA. Your written quote includes the dollar equivalent at that day's exchange rate, and we invoice with a Mexican CFDI that your accounting department can process.
